What You Will Do: 

At GTS Rail Operations Ltd., we believe powerful storytelling and memorable experiences connect our people and culture. As Communications and Events Lead, you'll be the creative force behind our internal communications and strategic events—bringing our values to life and amplifying employee engagement across the business. You'll: 

  • Design and deliver the GTS strategic events programme, including leadership conferences, cultural milestones, and award ceremonies 
  • Create compelling content and messaging across multiple platforms—newsletters, intranet, social media, and campaigns 
  • Translate operational and business information into completing colleague facing communications 
  • Partner with senior leaders to shape business communications and support internal reputation building 
  • Manage internal communication platforms, monitor engagement, and report impact  
  • Lead communications for key initiatives like employee surveys, recognition programmes, and exchange schemes 
  • Explore innovative formats and technologies to elevate events and communications 
  • Liaise with external suppliers and manage budgets to deliver high-impact, cost-effective events 
  • Support crisis and change communications with clarity and confidence 
  • Step in during disruption to support frontline colleagues and customers 

 

What We Are Looking For: 

We're seeking a dynamic communicator and experienced event planner who thrives on creativity, collaboration, and delivering impact. You'll bring: 

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate/internal communications and media relations 
  • UK rail industry knowledge 
  • A degree in communications, marketing, media studies, or a related field (preferred) 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills 
  • Experience managing a variety of events—internal, external, and virtual 
  • Strong digital skills, including short film creation and content development 
  • Excellent project management and organisational abilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects 
  • Confidence in presenting and facilitating at events 
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with strong influencing and analytical skills 
  • A self starter who can manage workload and deadlines
