We're now looking for a strategic and compassionate Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality health and wellbeing services across the organisation.
What You Will Do:
As Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager, you'll lead the development and delivery of a proactive health and wellbeing strategy. You'll manage supplier relationships, shape policy, and ensure our colleagues receive the support they need to thrive at work.
- Review and shape the occupational health service model for GTS.
- Manage supplier contracts and ensure high-quality, value-for-money service delivery.
- Develop and implement measurable health and wellbeing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with health surveillance and railway standards.
- Support effective sickness absence management and deliver training to line managers.
- Analyse absence data and report trends to senior leadership.
- Introduce and evaluate a medical assistance programme to support return to work.
- Maintain strong relationships with OH service providers and ensure responsiveness.
- Line manage internal wellbeing resources and support their development.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on wellbeing initiatives.
- Improve understanding of OH services across the business.
- Develop case conference approaches for medical reporting.
- Ensure robust data storage and evaluation methods for OH and wellbeing.
- Provide training and guidance on managing occupational ill health.
- Stay up to date with emerging legislation and guidance.
- Manage the OH and wellbeing budget effectively.
- Provide expert advice on medical referrals.
- Step in during service disruption to support customer-facing colleagues as part of the step-in programme.
What We Are Looking For:
We're seeking a qualified and experienced occupational health professional who can lead with empathy, insight, and strategic thinking. You'll be confident managing contracts, influencing stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
- CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent.
- Qualified occupational health professional (rail industry experience desirable).
- Around 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Commercially minded with strong contract management skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to adapt positively to change and manage pressure effectively.
