We are looking for an Operations Assistant to provide operational and administrative support to the Train Driver function. This role plays a key part in delay attribution, performance reporting, and compliance tracking, helping to maintain operational integrity and support continuous improvement across the business.

You will work closely with the Operations Support Manager and a range of operational teams, ensuring data is accurate, reporting is timely, and issues are progressed effectively.

What you will do:

  • Manage daily delay attribution activities relating to the Train Driver function, ensuring records are progressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Work with Area Depot Managers and cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve delay disputes
  • Collate and analyse data relating to service-impacting events involving train drivers
  • Prepare performance summaries and materials for operational reviews and wider business meetings
  • Provide administrative support to improvements and updates within the Competency Management System (CMS)
  • Track and report on driver training activities in line with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Support departmental meetings through coordination and minute-taking
  • Assist the Operations Support Manager and Driver Operations team with ad hoc tasks and project work
  • Step in during periods of disruption, in line with the step-in programme, to support customer-facing colleagues and customers across the network
  • Maintain high standards of safety and environmental responsibility in all activities

 

What you will bring:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above
  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage data accurately and efficiently
  • Confidence working collaboratively across teams to achieve shared goals
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to support decisions
  • A flexible and resilient approach, maintaining performance under pressure or changing priorities
  • A professional, safety-conscious mindset and commitment to following procedures
  • A proactive attitude with a desire to learn, develop, and continuously improve
