Senior Finance Business Partner (1124)

We are now looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team in a strategic, high-impact role supporting senior leaders across the organisation.

About the Role

This is more than a finance role — it's a strategic leadership position at the heart of decision-making.

As a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will provide high-level financial insight, challenge and support to drive business performance and long-term strategy. You will lead complex financial modelling, shape investment decisions, influence governance, and play a key role in delivering operational and strategic objectives.

What you will do

• Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insight, challenge and financial expertise to drive performance.
• Lead financial planning and analysis across key business areas, including budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling.
• Deliver clear and compelling financial reporting and performance reviews, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Partner with executive stakeholders on business cases, investment proposals and major projects, ensuring robust analysis and risk assessment.
• Provide commercial leadership on cross-functional initiatives and strategic programmes.
• Strengthen financial governance by overseeing the development and implementation of effective financial controls.
• Support accurate and timely month-end and year-end reporting, including complex accruals, provisions and reconciliations.
• Mentor and develop junior finance business partners and analysts, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes and reporting tools.
• Represent Finance in strategic forums and working groups.
• Step in during operational disruption, supporting customer-facing colleagues across the network where required.
• Champion safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance and proactively identifying improvements.

What you will bring

Qualifications & Education

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Additional training in financial strategy, business analysis or leadership (desirable)

Experience & Technical Expertise

• Advanced financial modelling, forecasting and scenario planning skills
• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability
• Experience supporting executive-level decision-making and board reporting
• Proven ability to lead complex financial projects and cross-functional initiatives
• Expertise in investment appraisal, business case development and performance analysis
• Strong knowledge of financial governance, compliance and risk management
• Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., Oracle, Power BI)
