We are looking for a highly analytical and technically skilled Timetable Modeller to support the successful implementation of future timetables (STP/LTP) through the effective use of modelling software.

What You Will Do: 

You will play a key role in shaping the future of rail services by analysing and optimising timetable performance, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and industry standards. You will:

  • Model future timetable options using industry-standard software
  • Support the Long Term Planning Specialist in developing and refining timetable scenarios
  • Analyse historical, current, and future timetables to inform improvements
  • Ensure implemented timetables deliver high performance and meet stakeholder requirements
  • Provide support across the Planning team and wider business as needed
  • Participate in the step-in programme during service disruptions to support frontline colleagues and customers across our network

What We Are Looking For: 

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual to join our Planning team as a Timetable Modelling Analyst. You will play a key role in shaping future rail services by using modelling software and data analysis to support the development and implementation of high-performing timetables. You will bring:

  • Degree level in a relevant analytical discipline, such as mathematics
  • Previous experience of train planning, including the utilisation of train planning systems such as IVU, TPS
  • Experience and understanding of the Railway
  • Extremely analytical such as understanding Python Code to a high standard
  • The ability to explain complex analysis to non-subject matter experts
  • Able to create presentations that explain the current position
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, that allow all sides of a debate to be heard and argued for/against
  • Analytical, always seeking a data and commonsense led approach to problem solving
  • Flexible, working as the demands of the role require
  • Inquisitive, always seeking out the next development or new method of work
